Your SmartphoneA recent IDC Research report that was based on a survey of 7,444 smartphone users aged 18 44 has revealed that smartphone owners spend more than two hours a day communicating and using social media on their devices; the research also says eighty percent of people check their smartphone within 15 minutes of waking up.

Some other interesting stats from the survey are:

  • 49% of the U.S. population owns a smartphone, and this is expected to go up to 68% by 2017
  • 80% of smartphone users check their phones within the first 15 minutes of waking up, and 80 percent of them say it is the first thing they do in the morning
  • 79 percent of smartphone users have their phone near them for at least 20 hours in a day
  • 61% of people say their smartphones help them connect with friends, and 60 percent of people say it keeps them connected with their spouse
  • There are currently over 1.08 billion smartphones in the world, and 89% of people use their smartphone during throughout the day

As you can see from the above stats, our dependency on smartphones today is so strong that many people cant live without it. However, the question is whether you are getting the best from your smartphone.
